INTRODUCING
EXPEDITION DINOSAUR: INTO THE DEEP
Embark on a mesmerizing journey through time with Expedition Dinosaur: Into the Deep, the third chapter in Stage 9 Exhibits’ acclaimed Expedition Dinosaur series. Created in collaboration with paleontologist Dr. Thomas E. Williamson, dive into Earth’s distant past and explore the Jurassic period (201 to 145 million years ago), uncovering the stories of ancient oceanic and aquatic reptiles through the latest paleontological discoveries.
Experience cutting-edge animatronics that bring the past to life! Featuring realistic recreations of iconic species like Tyrannosaurus Rex, Torosaurus, Anzu Wyliei, Dakota Raptor, Stegosaurus, Pterosauria, and more. Step into the underwater world of ancient reptiles such as Dakosaurus and Cryptoclidus, and discover the marine creatures that once ruled Earth’s seas.
Explore questions like:
How do we know about oceanic reptiles?
Learn how paleontologists study ancient life using fossil excavation, CT scans, and 3D modeling. Understand the importance of the Jurassic period’s geological and environmental conditions.
Where did they live?
Explore Jurassic oceans like the Panthalassic and Tethys Seas, and see how marine reptile fossils found across Europe, the Americas, Asia, and Antarctica reveal the structure of prehistoric marine ecosystems.
What did they eat?
Discover the diets of these marine reptiles—from fish to squid—and their roles in the ocean food chain.
Where are the fossils found?
Learn about major fossil sites such as the Posidonia Shale, Blue Lias, and Sundance Formations, and why they’re critical to our understanding of oceanic reptiles.

“Into the Deep is our Museum's third dinosaur themed exhibit from StageNine. Each explored a different aspect of the Mesozoic and all have engaged our audience. Attendance for Into the Deep is more than 20% above our average for shows that we have rented in the past few years. The installation and deinstallation of the exhibits is an aspect where StageNine really shines: quick and efficient with a helpful team.”
